Jason Byrne has recalled pranking Bill Murray during an appearance on The Late Late Show back in the Nineties, saying it was "unbelievable" and that he "wouldn't even do it now". Check out this gem from the archives here.

Speaking to Entertainment.ie, the Irish comedian cringed over the memory in which he played an over-eager character and quizzed the Hollywood actor about ghosts.

"It was unbelievable what I did. I wouldn't even do it now," Byrne said. "I didn’t tell anybody I was doing it, like nobody. I got a ticket for The Late Late Show and I just went in – I knew Bill Murray was coming on.

"I got my dad's tie, brushed my hair over to the side and I stayed in character when I got into the audience holding area.

"I was like Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot," Byrne quipped.

The comedian said his antics didn't go unnoticed by other members of the audience who he said were "terrified" of him.

Byrne goes on to explain that he kept his hand in the air waving throughout Gay's interview with Bill until Gay eventually allowed him to ask the actor a question.

He says to Murray: "I seen your film Ghostbusters and thought it was very good, and it influenced me and a couple of friends to start up our own "Irish Ghostbusters", as it's known.

"What we do now, we haven't had much luck with people so we work on farm animals, possessed pigs and sheep and stuff", as the audiences laughs.

Murray's bemused expression makes way for a more inquisitive look.

"Have you ever seen a ghost and if so, were you ever frightened?", Byrne finally asks him.

Murray gamely sets about answering the question, saying he was in Ballsbridge institution Roly's Bistro merely 20 minutes ago.

"A waiter came, took my order, and disappeared", he said. "You think you're safe here, think again", Murray joked as the audience laughed along.

Handled like a pro!
