It’s reported that the BBC has decided to axe Match of the Day for the next three weeks and replace it with Mrs Brown’s Boys because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular football highlights show is usually shown on BBC One a 10.25pm on Saturdays but has been shelved after football fixtures were called off on Friday morning following the news that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi have both tested positive for the coronavirus.

It was also reported that the Premier League has been postponed until at least 3 April due to the impact of the virus.

The BBC has not made an official statement about the schedule change but the station’s online TV schedule shows that Brendan O’Carroll’s hit show is now being screened on Saturday night in the usual MOTD slot.

The billing for the show reads: 'Agnes Brown is her usual meddling self in the first-ever live broadcast of Mrs Brown’s Boys. When Agnes discovers that Mark and Betty are having bedroom problems, she takes it upon herself to help. Meanwhile, as Dermot’s business grows, he has a difficult decision to make about his best friend Buster.’
