This week on Fair City, Barry produces proof of Fiona's laundering and Paul is conflicted over who to believe.
Barry tricks Fiona into confessing everything to an eavesdropping Paul and a furious Paul is intent on revenge.
He kicks off his plan for Fiona's downfall by popping the question. Paul is satisfied he has won Fiona's trust when she accepts his proposal. He tells her not to announce their engagement publicly.
After Fiona tells Carol about the engagement, she accidentally lets the news slip to Ruth, leaving Paul seething. Fiona asks Paul why he's upset about Ruth finding out about the engagement.
Later, Paul publicly announces the engagement in McCoys. Barry tries to make Paul see the error in taking revenge. Paul threatens to call the Gardaí on Barry.
Elsewhere, Hayley presses Carol for information about the people in the photograph. Nora encourages Carol to tell Hayley what she knows.
In a bid to get the truth from Carol, Hayley tells her the truth about Ger. Carol reveals the dangerous crowd Ger may have been part of when she was younger and urges Hayley not to pursue the search.
Carol later reveals to Hayley she might have a lead with her search and makes contact with him. They prepare to meet the man who is possibly connected to Hayley's father. Hayley is left shocked at what he has to say and has second thoughts about finding her birth father.
Hayley later tells Ger the hunt for her birth father is off. However, Ger makes contact with one of the people in the photograph behind Hayley's back...
