Lábhras is not too happy about the Ionad Pobail’s new employee and fully intends speaking to the board about it.

Frances defends her decision, and informs Lábhras that the board has been made aware, and have no problem with it. Cóilí Jackie later tells Lábhras to lay off Frances or suffer the consequences. Caitríona has more interest in buying for Maeve’s Holy Communion than preparing her daughter for the day itself.

Maeve mentions her first confession to Vince and is thrown when Vince comments that all children are born without sin. Maeve wanting to have a sin to tell the priest decides to break a few commandments.

Katy, in an effort to keep Tadhg off her back, mentions ways they can drum up business. Tadhg is impressed but his mood soon changes when he discovers Katy has bought too much meat and they have nowhere to store it.

Katy is shocked that she would order such a large amount but Dee assures her, and Tadhg that she did, she overheard her making the call to the butcher.

Katy’s relaxed parenting style to her advantage, in showing Mack, how easy Jay could come to harm in her care. Maeve’s scientific brain has her questioning if God does exist and not getting the answers to her questions, decides not to make her Holy Communion.

Caitríona, having made elaborate plans for that day, tries to pacify her but Maeve is not for turning. Caitríona uses the promise of a trip to London to change her mind but it is Máire’s strong belief and faith that has Maeve believing in a higher power.

Tadhg, worried by Malachaí’s budding relationship with Frances fears his interests may not be represented fairly. Tadhg refuses to sign any agreement and informs Malachaí of his intentions to hire a new solicitor. Malachaí thinks Tadhg a foolish man to have another solicitor look through his books, as he/she may not be as willing to accept Tadhg’s many misdemeanors.
