The day arrives for Maddy to have the surgery to protect her fertility before she undertakes chemotherapy. Josh and Spencer both want to support her, but Maddy only wants Oscar, Roo and Alf. When Roo suggests Maddy should tell her parents that she’s ill, Maddy protests – she has everyone she wants by her side already.
Elsewhere, Ash bumps into Denny on the beach, and notices that she’s wearing an engagement ring. Not realising that it’s the ring Casey intended to give her, Ash congratulates Denny on her engagement. When Denny doesn’t correct his mistake, Ash tells a thoughtful Brax that Denny is engaged.
Meanwhile, Sophie coerces Nate into sitting down for a meal with her in the motel room. She waxes lyrical about how this room represents the renewal of their relationship, since it was where they decided to get back together. Nate tells Sophie that she needs treatment and Sophie assures him that she’ll just get her things together.
Later in the week, Denny and Evelyn get ready to go to Phoebe’s launch. Josh watches as everyone boards the bus. After Maddy frees him of his obligation to her, he resolves to go and tell Evelyn he wants to be with her. Brax tells him he’ll drive him to the city. As the bus drives along, Evelyn and Ricky see Brax and Josh driving behind them. Josh sends them a text to tell the bus driver to pullover.
