Albert Square says goodbye to Lydia, but Janine is in for a whirlwind week of accusations and confrontations, stirred by Pat, about her past and future.

Janine stumbles upon a will leaving a fortune to charity. After a night of hallucinations, Lydia reveals she had wanted Janine to live with her, not Clare, after June’s death and gives Janine June’s locket. Lydia passes away watching the sunrise, with Janine by her side. When Pat hears of the death, she goes to comfort Janine but her act of kindness soon turns into an argument. Later on, Pat implies she thinks Janine killed Lydia and the police are called as Janine discovers the house has been burgled.

Max proposes to Vanessa and wedding plans are immediately started upon, leaving Max quickly feeling trapped. Max goes to help Tanya with a drunken Rainie. Amid their ongoing flirting and with Rainie asleep, there’s a close encounter between the two, before being interrupted by Greg. This creates a web of lies and cover-ups to both their partners. Then sparks are fiercely flying at the engagement party...

Meanwhile, with Mercy’s immigration case looming she is feeling the pressure and wondering if she should have kept her solicitor. She finds Fatboy asleep surrounded by books on immigration law, two hours before the case. She goes to the court with Grace, worried he will be late. He makes it just in time to make an impassioned plea to the judge.

Michael abruptly returns and shares an emotional moment with Ronnie. Later, when Ronnie’s solicitor mentions a possibility of a suspended sentence, she refuses to lie about her mental state in the fast-approaching court case.

Afia and Tamwar argue over Masood at the Argee Bhajee, with Afia declaring she does not want Tamwar to speak to Masood and he is not welcome at their wedding.

Elsewhere, tensions build between Christian and Syed surrounding Christian’s birthday.
