FAIR CITY
It's all going wrong for Yvonne this week as Connie gives her an
ultimatum, move to Australia with the baby or she'll go on her own. Yvonne naturally digs her heels in so Connie heads off alone. Devastated, Yvonne leaves Ruth alone in the apartment. Paul and Niamh arrive at the same time as Yvonne returns. She can’t find her keys and a furious Paul kicks in the door. Later Niamh and Paul decide to take Ruth without informing a sleeping Yvonne. The following day Yvonne barges into Ridgeview and demands to get her baby back. A fight ensues between Niamh and Yvonne. Elsewhere Neasa seduces a slightly tipsy Damien.
EASTENDERS
Ben shows his dark side this week as he continues to terrorise his half sister. Phil's seething when Lucas suggests that Ben was to blame for the whiskey fiasco the previous week but when Phil discovers that the burns on Louise's arms were caused by Ben, he flies into a rage knocking the child to the ground. Elsewhere Danny's plan to steal Roxie's money is coming to a head but will he go through with it? Meanwhile Syed moves back home and while Masood and Tamwar are delighted by his presence, Zainab's far from happy and Stacey agrees to allow Max to be involved in her pregnancy for Bradley's sake.
News- Two more stars to leave Eastenders
It has been announced that two more characters are set to be
written out of Eastenders following the arrival of new executive producer Bryan Kirkwood.
Digital Spy reports that Leon Small and Zsa Zsa Carter played by Sam Attwater and Emer Kenny will leave Albert Square in the coming months. The characters first appeared in the online spinoff 'E20'.
Kirkwood said "Emer and Sam have made a real impact in the short time they've been on the Square and we wish them all the best for the future."
He added: "Of course, we look forward to continuing working with Emer in her capacity as a writer on EastEnders: E20." The young actors are the 13th and 14th cast members due to leave the show before the end of the year.
News - Teenage stars axed from Eastenders
Ben Mitchell and Lauren Branning are to be axed from 'EastEnders', as a new love interest is in store for Darren Miller.
Ben Mitchell is set to leave 'EastEnders' this summer.
Charlie Jones - who has played the partially-deaf schoolboy for the past four years - apparently had to be "consoled" after bosses on the BBC One show told him his alter-ego would be written out during one of the summer's biggest storylines, expected to be based around his hatred of his younger sister Louise.
The Daily Star also revealed that Madeline Duggan, who plays teenager Lauren Branning, will soon be leaving Albert Square too.
A BBC spokesman said: "Charlie and Madeline have been a pleasure to work with and we wish them all the best for the future."
The news comes amidst a dramatic shake-up of the soap, involving several characters bring axed - including Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin), Minty (Cliff Parisi), and Charlie Slater (Derek Martin).
Other upcoming twists on the show include a new love interest for Darren Miller (Charlie Hawkins) - who will be seduced by blonde bombshell Jodie Gold, played by Kylie Babbington.
New producer Bryan Kirkwood is set to introduce several new residents to the square in the coming months, including 'Footballers Wives' star Zoe Lucker who will portray Max Branning (Jake Wood)'s new love interest.
CORONATION STREET
Tracy continues to stir thing up this week causing all sorts of
problems, first she has another run-in with Becky when she visits the prison to talk about Amy, but insults and fists soon begin to fly. Then Tracy turns the screws on poor Gail. Having urged Gail to plead guilty, Tracy calls her solicitor claiming that Gail has confessed to killing Joe. However David is also prepared to do anything to ensure his mother is released. Elsewhere Graeme stands up Rosie to help Tina but when he eventually turns up, Rosie insists that he's wasted his one and only chance.
News - Corrie's Becky to get a half sister
Coronation Street's Becky McDonald is to get a half-sister in the soap, actress Katherine Kelly has revealed.
Speaking of what lies ahead for her character, Katherine told PA: "We've got some really, really exciting stuff happening. Becky's going to get a half-sister - a younger sister - so that's all really fun.
"And of course Tracy Barlow's coming back on the scene at the end of the year so it's good times."
Last year it was reported that Corrie bosses were considering casting Katherine's real-life sister Grace as a relative for Becky.
In the soap, former drug addict Becky has begun making plans to adopt with husband Steve (Simon Gregson).
Asked if the couple's plans would come to fruition, she said: "Do they adopt? We just have to see. A lot can go wrong in a year so we'll just have to see if that happens or not."
News - Corrie legend Betty 'staying put'
Corrie legend Betty Driver reportedly called soap bosses from her
hospital bed to insist she won't be quitting.
Betty, who is 90 in ten days, is suffering a chest infection. According to The Sun, she rang new executive producer Phil Collinson to scotch reports she'd quit as barmaid Betty Williams after 41 years.
A source said: "She was upset as she has every intention of staying on the show for as long as possible."
Meanwhile, a Corrie spokesman last night denied rumours that there were plans to axe Steve Huison (Eddie Windass) and Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland).
News - Coronation Street is going HD
Coronation Street fans will be able to see every every bubble in a pint of Newton And Ridley best bitter after ITV announced the programme is to be screened in HD.
The soap, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will be given the warts-and-all treatment from May 31 when it will be shown on the ITV1 HD channel. The network has invested millions in new technology at ITV Studios' Manchester base, which will allow the cobbles to be shot and aired in high definition ahead of its December half-century milestone.
Peter Fincham, ITV's director of television, channels and online, said: "It is fitting that, in its golden anniversary year, Coronation Street should be entering the era of high definition."
Cameras, production vehicles, lighting and editing facilities have all had to be upgraded.
The exteriors of some of the sets have also been spruced up to bring them up to scratch, with fresh licks of paint given to landmarks such as the Rovers Return and Roy's Rolls cafe.

John has been trying to resist Eve's advances but this week he foolishly allows himself to kiss her back. Witnessed by Cain it's not long before Moira finds out and his furious wife throws him out. Elsewhere Jamie is also heartbroken when he walks in on Gennie kissing his Dad at their leaving party! Viv also walks in demanding to know what’s going on. Will Bob and Gennie admit the truth? Will Jamie believe there was nothing in it or is the move to Newquay off?

Mo helps Mack to interview for a nanny. But her choice is overruled
once the lads get sight of stunning Svetlana. Elsewhere, the day of the trial has arrived. Will Riona choose to side with her brother and risk losing her daughter Sophie? Hoping to discover out who stole the gun, Calvin watches CCTV tapes from The Loft - but he's unprepared for the shocking truth. Calvin and Carmel get married and all seems to going well until a shot rings out. Elswhere Jacqui issues Mercedes with an ultimatum and Theresa makes a shocking confession.

In the wake of Cass' destroyed diary, Zeke encourages Donna to keep searching for her dad. Elsewhere Lucas hits Steph with the news that Toadie confessed to still having feelings for Sonya. Meanwhile Declan returns to the Robinson house but has another run-in with Andrew.

Elijah, Leah, VJ and his classmates go caving, but it isn't long before things start to go wrong. Meanwhile Nicole sacrifices her happiness and breaks up with Aden while news that Hugo is still alive spreads. Xavier goes in search of his brother and doesn't have to look too far.
