Raised in Clonakilty, Co Cork, Niamh O'Sullivan moved across the world to be with her boyfriend, Shane McCormack, who hails from the Taranaki region of New Zealand. They met while she was completing her MSc in Dietetics at King's College London. As part of her work, she hopes to raise awareness of the challenges faced by young women living with Type 1 Diabetes around the world.
Niamh describes taking part in the Rose of Tralee as "a soul-searching mission". She says it is a way for her to understand who she is as an Irish woman living in New Zealand, and her future.
"It's been an opportunity to learn about my new home in the context of my old, something truly unique and special. This whole process has resulted in me finding myself somewhere along the way."
