Laoise O'Shaughnessy grew up in Ballintubber in Co Roscommon and says she broke her parents' hearts to move to Ireland to study pharmacy. She is going into her final year in September and hopes to qualify with her Masters in Pharmacy next summer. Away from her studies, she is a member of the Irish Society at Sunderland University and has volunteered as a helper bringing pilgrims to Lourdes.
Laoise is a big music fan and says at a party that she's "usually the one plagued to sing a song". She describes herself as "a strong advocate of Barry's Tea".
"It has been a dream of mine for many years and I'm savouring every second of my Rose journey. I'm very grateful for all of the support I have received thus far and ecstatic for the year ahead."
