Lisa Maloney lives in a small rural village at the foot of the Ox Mountains called Cloonacool in County Sligo. She spent four wonderful years in the University of Limerick studying a Bachelor of Education with Modern Languages. She is currently teaching French in Grange Post Primary School in County Sligo and will be continuing her studies in St. Angela’s College in Sligo in a Masters of Special Education Needs.
Throughout my studies, I have had several opportunities to travel. She spent a semester teaching English to children in Badajoz in Spain and followed her Erasmus semester in l’Université d’Angers in France. In the year abroad it helped her to discover new cultures, meet new people from all around the world and develop her proficiency and fluency in both French and Spanish.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling and meeting new people and likes social dancing; mainly jiving and country music. I also enjoy reading in my three languages, Gaelic football, and music. I am really honoured and privileged to be selected as the 2017 Sligo Rose.
