Deirdre Cribbin grew up in the small village of Castleplunkett in Roscommon, where she still lives and works today. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Gaeilge, Geography and Children’s Studies at NUI Galway before attending Hibernia College to study Primary Education.
Last year, she was very fortunate to have the time to spend six weeks travelling South East Asia.
While she was studying in Galway, she decided to join the ISPCC as a Childline volunteer, which led her to working for the ISPCC for a year.
Deirdre has a huge love and respect for Gaeilge, which initially came from the many summers she spent as a student and as a Cúntóir in Coláiste Lurgan in Connemara. She is currently taking part in a weekly Irish club for children – a place they can come to take part in art, drama, games and many other fun activities through Gaeilge.
