Kate Hyland is 27 years old and from the village of Clough, Co. Laois. She teaches in Presentation Primary School Portarlington, a huge school with over 700 pupils and a staff of almost 49 women and 1 man! She's been involved with her local traditional music group, Camross Comhaltas, since age 11 and plays the tin-whistle, flute and concertina. She's also the piano player for the local Céilí band and in 2006 she won an All-Ireland with the Under 18 Céilí Band. She's from a household of GAA fanatics and so it’s no surprise that she became involved in hurling, camogie and football from an early age and has even captained this year’s Portlaoise Hockey Team.
