The nominees for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards were announced on Tuesday July 21. Taylor Swift leads the shortlist with nine nominations, while friend Ed Sheeran has six. Hozier's Take Me to Church has two.
The Wicklow singer-songwriter's breakthrough song is nominated in the Best Rock Video category, with Irish directors Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson nominated in the Best Direction category.
Both Swift and Sheeran will compete for Video of the Year, with Swift's Bad Blood and Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud shortlisted.
Swift's other nominations are in the Best Female Video and Best Pop Video categories for Blank Space, and in Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Visual Effects for Bad Blood with Kendrick Lamar.
Sheeran's other nominations are for Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Cinematography for Thinking Out Loud, and Best Choreography and Best Editing for Don't.
The awards show takes place in Los Angeles' Microsoft Theatre on Sunday August 30, with voting now open on MTV's US site.
