Kanye West has kept Dublin band Kodaline off the top of the UK album charts with his latest release Yeezus.

The Dublin four-piece looked set to take the top spot after strong mid-week sales for In A Perfect World and a high chart prediction following their debut release over the pond. If they managed to get the UK top spot, they would have matched their Irish chart position.

However Kanye was too big of a match for the rising band as he claimed the top spot, knocking last week's No.1, Black Sabbath, to the second position, with Kodaline sitting comfortably within the top five at No.3.

Shortly after the news broke, the band tweeted their gratitude to their fans, writing: "Thanks so much to everyone who bought #inaperfectworld We made it to no.3 in the UK Charts!!!" and attaching a Vine video with all the members thanking fans for their support.
