Who will play Hillary in Rodham?

Speculation is intensifying about who will be offered the coveted role of potential U.S. President Hillary Clinton on the silver screen in an upcoming film about the politician's life.

Rodham, set to be directed by James Ponsoldt (Smashed), is believed to centre around the younger years of Hillary Clinton during her time as a lawyer in Washington in the mid-Seventies. The film is expected to be released around the time of America's 2016 Presidential election.

The script for the film caused waves in Hollywood towards the end of 2012 and the beginning of this year.

The first actress to announce that they are out of the running is Jessica Chastain. Speaking at this weekend's Chime for Change concert in London, Zero Dark Thirty Oscar nominee Chastain said of the rumours she was to play the lead role: "No, that's actually not true. I found out about the project online, but, yeah, there's a lot of stuff out there".

Other names being thrown into the ring are Amanda Seyfried, Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter Nash in Walk The Line. Emma Stone has also been a rumoured candidate.

As for Bill, The Guardian reports that Paddy Power bookmakers has put Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, James Franco and Jeremy Renner among its top picks for the role of the two-time US President in his early twenties.
