Imagine what would happen if Glee went to college and met the cast of Bridesmaids and Mean Girls at a Spring Break party - and you’ll certainly get a taste of what to expect from Pitch Perfect.

Beca (Anna Kendrick) is a wannabe DJ and mash-up producer who is only attending college to keep her professor father (John Benjamin Hickey) happy for a year or two. Following a lonesome few months on campus and an awkward shower intrusion moment that reveals Beca can sing, she reluctantly finds herself joining all-female a cappella group, The Bellas.

With Beca onboard the newly-formed 'freak squad' consisting of self-nicknamed Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson), outspoken Cynthia-Rose (Ester Dean), sweet but easily-led Chloe (Brittany Snow) and micro-managing Aubrey (Anna Camp), the singing troop quickly gets down to business in the hopes of winning the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella title. With their arch-rivals, The Treble Makers, looking set to steal the coveted award, Beca is forced to choose between music and her heart.

Kendrick plays the part of Beca to perfection and is an extremely likeable character. The chemistry between Beca and Jesse (Skylar Astin) is electrifying. Camp and Snow both offer terrific support and contribute to several worthwhile laugh-out-loud moments. However, it’s Rebel Wilson who steals the movie with her witty one-liners and priceless expressions at all the right times.

The script is packed with delicious gags and hilarious comedy gold scenes, most notably the riff-off and Wilson’s mermaid dance.

If you’re looking for a feel-good and fun movie this Christmas, then Pitch Perfect hits all of the right notes!
