Irish alternative trad folk band Rattling Ark have released their new single, Coleraine Jig, from their upcoming debut album, Top of a Mountain. We asked cellist and composer Kevin Murphy the BIG questions . . .
Rattling Ark were formed by Kevin (Slow Moving Clouds), alongside Thomas Haugh, and Lizzi Murtough.
Top of a Mountain draws on influences such as Pentangle, The Haxan Cloak and The Gloaming.

We are an experimental folk/trad band.

Pentangle, Arvo Part, Black Sabbath, Planxty, The Haxan Cloak, My Bloody Valentine, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Rory Gallagher in the Cork City Hall.
What was the first record you ever bought?
What's Another Year by Jonny Logan.
What’s your favourite song right now?
The Pursuit of Farmer Michael Hayes by Planxty.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"Hindsight is the foresight of a gobshite".
