Broadcaster Tracy Clifford has landed a new role with RTÉ Gold, following her departure from 2FM last month.

The radio presenter recently stepped away from the station after more than a decade hosting 2FM Afternoon, as part of a scheduling shake-up.

Just weeks after leaving the station, she is set to return to the airwaves with a new programme, Daytime Gold with Tracy, which begins on 28 May and will air weekdays from 10am to 1pm on RTÉ Gold.

Earlier this month, the JNLR figures showed that Clifford attracted 102,000 listeners for 2FM Afternoon.

Opening up about her departure from 2FM during her final show in April, Clifford said she was "not really sad".

"I just think it's proof of the incredible power and connection that radio has, especially music radio. That's what's making me really emotional today.

"In a world where there is a lot of noise, I really hope this little radio show gave you something. The notion that the opening bars of a song can scream the weekend has landed and get you revved up is just beautiful."

In her closing words, Clifford thanked her loyal listeners and invited them to follow her on whatever comes next.

She concluded: "Thank you so much for being a part of this deadly gang. Thank you for listening. I hope you join my next gang somewhere."

Clifford recently made her Virgin Media Television debut on The Six O'Clock Show, co-hosting alongside Brian Dowling.

Daytime Gold with Tracy Clifford airs Monday to Friday on RTÉ Gold from 10am to 1pm.
