The Script have announced that they will release their new album, The User's Guide to Being Human, on Friday, 14 August and will play Dublin and Belfast shows in October and November.

"The title is what this album is about," said frontman Danny O'Donoghue.

"If you need something to remind you of the spectrum of feelings and emotions that make you feel human, this is it."

The User's Guide to Being Human is preceded by the band's new single, Man in the Arena, with lyrics taken, in part, from a famous speech by US President Theodore Roosevelt.

"He talks about how honours don't belong to the critics," O'Donoghue explained.

"They don't belong to the people sitting on the couch, laughing at the person in the ring stumbling and falling around.

"The honours belong to the one who gets in there and whose face is marred with dust and blood.

"I remember reading it and being like, 'That needs to be in a tune, the energy in it is beautiful'."

The Script will play headline shows at Dublin's 3Arena on 30 and 31 October and Belfast's SSE Arena on 2 November.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday, 29 May at 9:30am.
