Carlow singer Sexytadhg has released their new single, The Slag Of Carlow Town, and announced their 12-date tour of Ireland and the UK. We asked them the BIG questions . . .
Speaking about the new song, SexyTadhg says: "The Slag of Carlow Town was born from my first time integrating the fiddle and trad music into a performance as SexyTadhg, during my musical, Television, which debuted at Dublin Fringe Festival.

"After that debut, I began bringing it into live shows with my band, and every time I took out the fiddle, the audience response was electric. There was this unspoken, in-built excitement.
"Audiences would just come alive, and it became a bridge between me and them. When I performed it at Cork City Hall, supporting The Mary Wallopers in December 2024, I felt a profound connection with their audience."
SexyTadhg plays: 30 October: Dolan's (The Kasbah), Limerick, 31 October: Connelly's of Leap, West Cork, 28 November, Ulster Sports Club, Belfast, 3 December: Savoy, Cork, 4 December, Gleneagle Club, Killarney, 17 December: Vicar Street, Dublin.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
My name is SexyTadhg, I'm a Carlow-born, non-binary, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and my favourite colour is pink x.
How would you describe your music?
It's a collage of influences from trad to house, techno, rock, jazz and gospel music. Usually written on the piano with the intention of being performed with a big live band to a big live audience.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, my Mammy, Aretha Franklin, Charli XCX, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. The list is endless and made up entirely of women.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Probably a mass of some kind with my mother in the church choir. I do remember my dad taking the whole family to the Scissor Sisters concert with Franz Ferdinand supporting down in Cork when I was five years old. To be honest I don't remember much because I slept through the majority of the concert, BUT I do think it's a bit ironic that my dad felt such a strong connection to performers as camp as the Scissor Sisters.
What was the first record you ever bought?
I feel like I didn't buy that many CD myself, I usually just listened to whatever my brother listened to. The Now That's What I call Music CDs were a big hit on my childhood Walkman, Cheryl Cole's Fight for This Love got a lot of replays.
What’s your favourite song right now?
My favourite song right now is Lime House by Demi Riquísmimo. It's got a hypnotic Italian house feel that's perfect for long drives and calming the mind.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"Do it right now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now."
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably Bat out of Hell by Meat Loaf, it's like five songs combined into one so I'd definitely get my money's worth.
Where can people find your music/more information?
