US music and screen star Barbra Streisand has cancelled an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival because of a knee problem.
The two-time Oscar winner was due to appear at Cannes to collect a Lifetime Achievement Award, but said her doctors told her not to travel while recovering from a knee operation.
The festival said in a statement that it would still go ahead with plans to celebrate her career on Saturday, and wished her a speedy recovery.
From Broadway to the big screen, Streisand is one of the biggest-selling recording artists of all time, and one of a handful of performers to have achieved EGOT status; a term for a select group of stars who have received at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award during their career.
