Maura Higgins is heading to the ballroom after being announced as one of the first celebrity contestants for the new season of Dancing with the Stars in the US.

She was confirmed for season 35 at Hulu's Get Real House event, with Summer House personality Ciara Miller also revealed for the line-up.

The Longford star first rose to fame on Love Island in 2019 and has since built a growing profile in the US.

Earlier this year, she finished runner-up on the American version of The Traitors, and has also worked as a presenter on Love Island USA and its spin-off shows.

Higgins is no stranger to TV competition formats, having previously taken part in ITV's Dancing on Ice in 2020, where she was paired with professional skater Alexander Demetriou.

The full celebrity cast and professional dancer pairings for Dancing with the Stars due to be announced at a later date.
