Following the release of her acclaimed debut album Cherry Valley, Carter returned to the UK and Europe for a 16-date run supporting Tucker and she played Dublin last night.

She is also set to make her acting debut in the upcoming Netflix film Heartland, starring opposite Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

This question always makes me nervous for some reason! I am obsessed with the movie Grease 2, I could eat fried rice every single day and never get sick of it, and I love to read, but nothing too long and hard to read haha - right now I am reading every single Frieda McFadden book and trying to guess the ending.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my music as having a lot of classic sounds with modern lyrics. It's country but it has some other genres probably woven through it too. I really just write stories that I’m feeling at that moment and try to make the music match the feeling.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I love so many artists, I would say my earliest writing inspirations were Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, The Pistol Annies, Lana Del Rey, and Dolly Parton. Then I starting collecting records and became equally as obsessed with Fleetwood Mac and The Beach Boys. Always Tammy Wynette too. I could list these forever!

What was the first gig you ever went to?

The first concert I ever went to was a Hannah Montana concert. I look back on that memory and find it both funny and amazing that that was my first concert. I also remember being so overstimulated and anxious and asking my mom if we could leave hahahaha.

What was the first record you ever bought?

I am not even just saying this, the first record I ever bought was an original copy of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. There was a record store in my hometown and my best friend Sophie and I would always get a milkshake from this place on main street and then walk down to the record store. I remember I found the record in a five dollar bin and bought it so fast because I was scared the shop owner would change his mind on the price and charge me hundreds of dollars lol

What’s your favourite song right now?

My favourite song right now is probably Midnight Train by Rattlesnake Milk. I just found that band in the last year and I cannot get enough of their album called Chicken Fried Snake.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Of all time is a hard question but lately we’ve been covering I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Rait and I think the lyric "you can’t make a heart feel something it won’t" is the most classic heart wrecking line I’ve ever heard. It hurts me every time even though it’s so simple.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would definitely say Merry Go Round by Kacey Musgraves, that song will just never ever get old to me.

Where can people find your music/more information?

People can find my music on any streaming service or on YouTube! I have all the social platforms but I’m most active on tumblr:)
