Glaswegian singer-songwriter Lizzie Reid has released her new EP, Undoing. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Lizzie has played support slots for the likes of Jasmine 4.t, John Cale, Hamish Hawk, Arlo Parks, and Tori Amos, and has also recently collaborated and played with some of Scotland's most active up-and-coming acts, including Jacob Alon, Dead Pony, Lucia & The Best Boys and Katie Gregson-MacLeod.

Speaking about Sweet Relief, her new EP’s first single, she says, "It speaks of my experience dealing with the full throws of obsession, rumination, depression, and panic.

"The way I desperately attempted to comfort myself only brought momentary relief from the storm. The cycle is brutal, exhausting and incredibly sneaky. The more I searched for solutions, the murkier the waters became, making it near impossible for light to come into the frame."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I am a songwriter/performer from Glasgow and have been involved in the Scottish music scene for close to 10 years, playing my own music and helping others out with theirs too.

I love horror movies and crying.

I have been known for my intimate acoustic sound, but this year I am going on my first headline tour with a full band and it’s gonna get loud!

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my music as warm, jagged and unpredictable. I wouldn’t want to box myself into any one sound or genre - that feels unnatural to me.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My main musical inspirations are Regina Spektor, Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Radiohead and Jack White. That’s to name a few. I try to find inspiration everywhere and anywhere. If it moves me and encourages me to pick up my guitar or sit at the piano then it’s a goodie.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I am ashamed to say it but the first ever gig I went to was probably X Factor Live… the year that Wagner performed, ha! One Direction quickly followed after that. I like to tell people my first ever gig that truly meant something to me as a musician was Fleetwood Mac at the Hydro in 2013. Stevie Nicks was my number one at the time and I remember sobbing when her and Lindsay Buckingham walked onto stage hand in hand. It was such an electric feeling, and I doubt I’ll experience anything like that at a gig again in my adulthood.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled album, Fleetwood Mac.

What’s your favourite song right now?

A song that I have on repeat right now is Didn’t Cha Know by Erykah Badu. And Greatest Dancer by Nadine Shah.

Favourite lyric of all time?

It’s hard to say what my favourite lyric of all time is. There are too many songs to choose from. But one of the first to come to mind is in A Case of You by Joni Mitchell: "On the back of a cartoon coaster in the blue TV screen light, I drew a map of Canada. Oh Canada. With your face sketched on it twice". Another lyric I love is by Regina Spektor: "If I kiss you where it’s sore, if I kiss you where it’s sore, will you feel anything at all?" There’s something so simple and tender about that lyric that reduces me to tears almost every time I hear it.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is an impossible question to answer, BUT, if I had to listen to one song for the rest of my life it would be Summer in the City by Regina Spektor.
