Steve Carell has described Ireland as "the most welcoming country" he has ever visited after reflecting on a holiday here last year.
Speaking to RTÉ 2FM's Emma Power, the actor said his experience in Ireland was "fantastic" and praised the warmth of the people he met.
"The nicest people I've ever met," he said. "As a whole, Ireland was the most welcoming country I’ve ever been to."
Asked if he had a favourite place, Carell singled out Dublin, while adding that he had travelled widely around the country.
"Oh my gosh, I loved Dublin," he said. "We criss-crossed the country."
He also joked that one of the highlights of the trip was "just hanging out with the sheep".
Carell was speaking while promoting Rooster, HBO’s new comedy from Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence and writer Matt Tarses.
Set on a college campus, the series follows a successful author played by Carell and his complicated relationship with his daughter, played by Charly Clive.
Clive described joining the show as a "wild" experience and said the cast bonded very quickly during filming.
She said she and Carell developed a "lovely relationship" on set and that their chemistry comes across in the series.
