Cameron Diaz says Keanu Reeves is the "loveliest human"

Cameron Diaz has said reuniting with Keanu Reeves for their new film was "pure joy".

Reeves, 61, stars in Outcome as a Hollywood actor who tries to identify his blackmailer when an extortion plot threatens to ruin his reputation.

Diaz, 53, co-stars in the Apple TV+ film and praised Reeves as "the loveliest human" as she discussed reuniting 30 years on from their last on-screen appearance together in crime comedy Feeling Minnesota (1996).

Diaz said: "When we worked together 30 years ago, it was like my fourth film.

"I was very green. I’m embarrassed – the poor guy had to act with this young novice actor who was just starting out.

"I was happier to get the opportunity to work with him again now after a little more experience."

Diaz added: "We’ve seen each other over the years, always happy to see one another.

"He’s always been who he is now, just has always been the loveliest human."

Outcome is directed by Jonah Hill, who also acts alongside Magic Mike star Matt Bomer.

Diaz said it was a set full of laughter: "I really enjoyed to just get to do this with (Reeves) and Matt and Jonah. It was just so much fun. It was pure joy."

She added that they all "laugh so much" while on set, adding: "We got to watch Keanu play a character who he does so gracefully.

"He’s the sort of drama and trauma that this guy’s going through, we all got to provide a little comedy and relief in there. It was really fun."

Diaz also cited the star-studded cast as one of the reasons she felt drawn to Outcome, and said: "I think there’s a lot of reasons why we as actors choose to do a film, and a lot of times it’s a mixture of things. It’s sort of like stars align.

"You sign on because you think that there’s a great opportunity to explore with other actors, with a director, with a writer that you really admire.

"And I think in this circumstance, with all with these actors, and with Jonah, I think that is easy for me to go, ‘Yeah, I want to explore whatever this conversation is going to be. It would be fun to do it with them’."

Outcome is available to watch on Apple TV+ from 10 April.
