Irish horror Hokum sets May release date

Hokum, the new horror from Irish writer-director Damian McCarthy (Oddity), will be released in cinemas on Friday, 1 May.

Hokum stars Severance's Adam Scott alongside Love/Hate's Peter Coonan, House of Guinness' David Wilmot, The Walking Dead's Austin Amelio, and Dublin Murders' Florence Ordesh.

"When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, the staff's tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind," says the synopsis.

"Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past."

Hokum recently received its world premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas.

Dublin company Tailored Films is among the producers, and the film is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
