Cape Fear, the new limited series executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, 5 June with the first two episodes of the psychological horror thriller.
The series stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson, with Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder rounding out the ensemble cast.
New episodes will arrive every Friday until 31 July.
"Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison - and he wants vengeance," said Apple TV.
Cape Fear is "based on both the novel The Executioners, which inspired Gregory Peck's Universal Pictures feature (1962) of the same name, as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese".
Series creator Nick Antosca (Candy, Antlers, Channel Zero) is also the showrunner, and the opening episode is directed by Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Silo, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan).
