More Irish stars join new film of Claire Keegan short story Walk the Blue Fields

Two Irish actresses land role in new Netflix series

Carrie Crowley and Ruth Bradley are among the Irish actors who have joined the cast of Walk the Blue Fields, an Emily Blunt and Andrew Scott-starring adaptation of the Claire Keegan short story of the same name, with Brooklyn's John Crowley currently directing the drama in Ireland.

An Cailín Ciúin star Crowley and Slow Horses star Bradley are among a number of new castings for the film alongside Mark Stanley (Adolescence), Naoise Dunbar (Lakelands), Jane Brennan (Brooklyn), and Bríd Brennan (Peaky Blinders).

Walk the Blue Fields tells the story of a woman who "is confronted with a heart-wrenching decision" on her wedding day when "a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed".

The screenplay is by playwright and director Conor McPherson, and the cast also includes Ciarán Hinds and Trespasses star Tom Cullen.

The Dublin-based Element Pictures and Blunt's company Ledbury Productions are among the producers of the film, with Netflix also on board.

Director Crowley, screenwriter McPherson, and author Keegan are among the executive producers of the film.

A release date is yet to be announced.
