Tom Jones to play new Kildare outdoor venue

Welsh singer Tom Jones will launch new Kildare venue Live at Palmerstown House with a concert this August.

Jones (85), whose hits include It's Not Unusual, What's New Pussycat?, Delilah, and Green, Green Grass of Home, will make his return to Ireland along with musical guests on 9 August, with tickets priced €76.40 on sale this Thursday 2 April at 10am via ticketmaster.

Palmerstown House will launch as a venue for large-scale live events this summer with a line-up of international musical acts with the aim of turning it into a key destination for live shows during the busy summer concert season.

Jerry Power, Comer Group Hotels, Group General Manager, said, "We've seen growing interest in Palmerstown House Estate as a location for live events, and we’re really looking forward to bringing a series of high-quality shows to the site.

Jones’ career has spanned over six decades with his recent albums, Surrounded By Time, Long Lost Suitcase, Spirit In The Room, and Praise & Blame, signaling an artistic rebirth.

Born in the mining town of Pontypridd, South Wales, Jones quit school at an early age, working various odd jobs before getting his start as a member of a local band called The Senators, later forming his own group, Tom Jones and the Squires, gigging in clubs and pubs around the local area.

In the early 1960s, he signed with Decca Records in London, kickstarting a successful and career that has seen him collaborate with Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Dolly Parton and Ed Sheeran.
