Jamie Dornan brings Irish humour to SNL UK

Jamie Dornan opened Saturday Night Live UK with a typically offbeat monologue on Saturday night, joking about everything from his Fifty Shades image to his very real habit of collecting rocks that look like potatoes.

The Belfast actor, hosting the second episode of the new Sky and NOW series, told the audience there was something they might not know about him. After playing up his heart-throb reputation, he revealed his more unusual side by introducing his collection of potato-shaped rocks.

Dornan leaned into the silliness of it all, insisting the collection was genuine as he showed off a few examples on stage.

The monologue then got an extra Irish lift when Chris O'Dowd made a surprise appearance.

O'Dowd joined Dornan for a playful back-and-forth about the rocks, with the pair clearly enjoying themselves as they traded jokes in front of the studio audience.

Saturday Night Live UK launched on Sky and NOW on 21 March, with Tina Fey hosting the first episode. Dornan had been announced as host of the 28 March show earlier this month, with Riz Ahmed lined up for the following week.
