Historian Diarmaid Ferriter and archivist Catriona Crowe will host a new series of What Were We Like, a new RTÉ podcast exploring "the hidden stories of modern Irish history".
Available now on the RTÉ Radio Player, the series focuses on modern Irish history - from Collins and De Valera to the Celtic Tiger years.
It follows Crowe and Ferriter's series on the history of the Irish Presidency, published during the height of last year's election campaign.
In the first two episodes of the new series, they look at the "most belligerent and bizarre" Irish political insults of the last 100 years.
According to the episode synopsis, "In part one of this catalogue of mudslinging, the Irish Civil War dominates. In the second of the two-part series, the civil war is well in the past, but Irish politicians are still roaring at each other".
Hugh Ormond, Head of RTÉ Podcasting said: "After the success of Diarmaid and Catriona's special series on the history of the Presidency, we are delighted to launch What Were We Like as a weekly podcast, which will bring Irish history to a whole new audience.
"Their humour, knowledge and storytelling is a perfect mix for history podcast listeners and anyone with an interest in our past."
Next week, What Were We Like will release the first episode in a series on the history of Fianna Fáil - From the Civil War to the Crash.
What Were We Like episodes will be available every Monday on the RTÉ Radio Player, wherever you get your podcasts (including Apple & Spotify), and at rte.ie/podcasts, making it accessible to audiences at home and abroad.
