They have recently supported acts such as American "fairy doom" heavyweights Faetooth, UK post-punk band Heavy Lungs and Irish bands such as PUCK, Mother Of Pearl, Skinner, I Dreamed I Dream, Silverglass, and The Low Field.

Speaking about Sister To None, Emily says: "It came about as a product of our process of jamming and refining music. We have quite a collaborative approach to songwriting- like most of our songs, the glut of my lyrics came from a stream-of-consciousness approach during a jam in 2024.

"Though the bones of the song were there from our very first gig, it really took shape through gigging, as we continued to refine its structure and dynamics. I think it’s our most bitter song and, personally, one I find quite demanding to perform."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Emily: I wrote a Master’s thesis on disease in gothic literature. I love drawing and have been teaching myself how to use Photoshop to create all of our cover art. I like to crochet and make Cormac wear the awful hats and scarves I make.

Cormac: I have a degree in Criminology. I just finished reading The Archaeology of Knowledge by Michel Foucault. I also play keys/synths in a band called Pebbledash.

How would you describe your music?

Cormac: Very loud and upsetting.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Emily: Lingua Ignota, Gilla Band, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Wednesday, Sweet Trip, Unwound, Chelsea Wolfe.

Cormac: Glenn Branca, Sunn O))), Leonard Cohen, Lori Goldston, Harold Budd, Lydia Lunch, Autechre, Mogwai, YVETTE, and Sonny Sharrock.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Emily: It was this festival in Newcastle West when I was maybe 14. I saw Example and UB40 playing in a field.

Cormac: The first gig I remember going to was Aslan, with my dad and my brother; they’re a big favourite of my Dad’s so we saw them a bunch when we were kids, in Cork Opera House I believe.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Emily: The first one I can remember buying was Ceremonies by Florence and the Machine.

Cormac: Sam’s Town by the Killers. Not very much like what we do, but very sharp songwriting and a lot of loud walls of guitars.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Emily: DM:AM by M(h)aol.

Cormac: "I just know that something good is gonna happen / I don’t know when / But just saying it could even make it happen" - Cloudbusting by Kate Bush.
