Jessie Buckley's family were at Dublin Airport today to travel to Los Angeles for Sunday's Oscars.
The Killarney star is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.
"We're just so excited and so emotional as we head off to support our beautiful girl," said her mother, Marina.
"This film struck a chord with people all over the world because of the story it tells."
"She did a magnificent job, portraying a mother's story. And how significant it is that the Oscars are on on Mother's Day," Marina Buckley added.
"Never would you expect that you'd be spending Mother's Day at the Oscars in LA, but to be there as a mom and to look up at your precious and beautiful little girl, well, there's nothing better than that," she said.
Ms Buckley added that no matter how things go at the awards show, she is so proud of how her daughter has "remained herself" throughout her awards success.
"I will be saying to her, 'Whatever happens, you are still my Jessie'."
Father Tim is feeling some nerves.
"It's like the pre-match tension in many ways. It's going to be a wonderful occasion, and we have our fingers crossed," he said.
"Either way, she has done herself proud, and all the people in the country are behind her."
Tim Buckley also paid tribute to the people who helped his daughter along in her career.
For Jessie Buckley's younger sister Lily, it is a proud moment.
"It feels so surreal," she said.
"You don't really imagine going to these things. It's such a nice opportunity to get reunited as a family. It's a proud moment.
"As a sister, she's a big idol."
