Lionsgate has released a trailer for The Gates, which stars James Van Der Beek in one of his final roles before his death earlier this month.
Best known for Dawson's Creek, Van Der Beek takes on a darker role in the thriller, playing a sinister pastor at the centre of a remote gated community.
Van Der Beek died on 11 February 2026, aged 48, after colorectal cancer, with his family confirming he passed away peacefully.
The Gates follows three college students who take a shortcut through the community, witness a murder, and find themselves trapped as they are blamed and hunted through the night.
The film also stars Mason Gooding, Algee Smith and Keith Powers.
