Nashville-based country singer-songwriter Willow Avalon plays The Academy, Dublin on 1 March. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
Originally from Georgia, Willow was raised by her mother and grandmother in a small Southern town and grew up playing piano in church.

After independently releasing her debut single Drivin' in 2021, she signed with Atlantic Records/Assemble Sound and released her debut album, Southern Belle Raisin' Hell.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I love vintage shopping, I'm from a very small farm town called Carlton, Georgia, and I can write with both hands.
How would you describe your music?
I would say it's a blend of the classic ladies of vintage country and Fleetwood Mac
Who are your musical inspirations?
Dolly Parton is my all-time favourite next to Lucinda Williams and Bonnie Raitt.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
My first gig I ever went to was Dinosaur Jr. as a child.
What was the first record you ever bought?
It would probably be Roberta Flack's Chapter Two.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Good While it Lasted by Jason Isbell.
Favourite lyric of all time?
I would say, "Now that I live to see my melodies betray me", from Good While it Lasted.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I will Always Love You by Dolly Parton.
