The trailer for award-winning Irish-language feature Báite has been released ahead of the film's nationwide cinema opening on 6 March, with the release timed to coincide with Seachtain na Gaeilge (1 - 17 March).
The film was nominated for four IFTA Awards and won in the Original Music category for composers Eimear Noone and Craig Stuart Garfinkle.
Set in September 1975, Báite follows Peggy Casey, a 23-year-old running her family pub in the west of Ireland, where a body is discovered in the receding waters of a man-made lake. The discovery triggers a murder investigation that begins to expose long-buried secrets in the community.
Eleanor O’Brien leads the cast as Peggy Casey, with Moe Dunford playing Detective Sergeant Frank Ryan. Supporting cast members include Juliette Crosbie, Pádraig Ó Loingsigh and Denis Conway.
The film is directed by Ruán Magan and written by Sheena Lambert, adapted from her novel The Lake.
Báite opens in cinemas nationwide on 6 March.
