Wednesday season 3 starts filming in Ireland with Winona Ryder joining the cast

Netflix has announced that production on the third season of Wednesday is now under way near Dublin, with Winona Ryder among the new cast members joining the hit series.

Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer are also joining the cast, while Eva Green, who was announced previously, is set to play Ophelia, the long-lost sister of Morticia Addams. Jenna Ortega will return as Wednesday, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Luis Guzmán as Gomez.

In a statement shared by Netflix, showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar said they were opening Nevermore Academy's gates once again and teased "new students, new teachers" and more Addams Family secrets in the new season.

Executive producer and director Tim Burton said he was "so excited" to return for season three and described the addition of Ryder, Green, Sarandon and Taylor as making the season "extra special".

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the new season.
