Brad Arnold, the lead singer and a founding member of American rock band 3 Doors Down, has died aged 47, the band has said.
In a statement posted on the band's official social media, 3 Doors Down said Arnold died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, including his wife, Jennifer.
Arnold revealed in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with advanced-stage clear cell renal carcinoma, which had spread to one of his lungs. The band later cancelled its planned summer tour because of his illness.
Formed in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi, 3 Doors Down rose to prominence in 2000 with the Arnold-penned single Kryptonite, which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. Other hits included When I’m Gone and Here Without You, both of which reached the top five.
Paying tribute, the band said Arnold’s "kindness, humour and generosity" had touched those who knew him.
