Nora warns Lorcan that Carol will not accept him dating Ruby in Friday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
Carol has banned her grandson from seeing Ruby after Greg - the partner of Ruby's sister Jess - spiked the drink of bully Ian, only for Lorcan to accidentally drink it instead.
"I don't need Carol looking out for me or dictating who I can or can't be friends with," Lorcan tells Nora.
"So, are you seeing Ruby?" asks Nora.
"No," replies Lorcan unconvincingly. "I'm not, I swear."
"Good," says Nora, "because Carol won't have it."
