Broadcaster Síle Seoige will explore issues such as bullying, parenting and "the anxiety epidemic" in a new three-part TG4 series, An Saol Mar Atá (Life As It Is).
Starting on 11 February at 9.45pm, the series seeks "insights from both experts and ordinary people".
In episode one, Seoige looks at the significant challenges that come with being a parent and talks to journalist and new mother Siún Ní Dhuinn about the highs and the lows.
There will also be contributions from Orla O'Connor of the National Women’s Council and a look at the childcare system in action in Norway where the presenter visits Niamh Ní Bhroin who is raising a family in Oslo.
In Monaghan, Seoige meets parents Brían and Síle Mac a Bhaird, who explain the hardship they’ve endured trying to get support for their disabled daughter Romy.
Episode two of An Saol Mar Atá looks at anxiety and will see Seoige talk openly about periods of anxiety in her own life and learns from Katie Whelan’s experience, who has suffered from anxiety since she was a child.
In Tipperary, Mags Casey, a community activist and Traveller, invites Seoige to join a group of women who talk to her about our unequal society and how this contributes to anxiety.
The final episode looks at bullying and will include an interview with screenwriter Antóin Beag Ó Colla who talks about the devastating impact bullying had on him as a young man.
Seoige gains a greater understanding of bullying from psychologist Allison Keating. After speaking to Deirdre Donnelly about her reasons for exiting politics, the presenter goes to Galway University where Dr. Tom Felle gives her an insight into the bullying our public representatives in Ireland endure today and Labour Party leader Ivana Bacik explains that she is hopeful that things can improve.
