'If James Cameron saw it, that would be amazing,' say DWTS couple Jordan Dargan and Rebecca Scott of their Avatar performance

Dancing with the Stars contestant Jordan Dargan and his professional dance partner Rebecca Scott have told RTÉ Entertainment that it would be a dream come true if Avatar director James Cameron saw their acclaimed Avatar-themed performance from Movie Week on the RTÉ One show.

On Sunday, The Apprentice UK semi-finalist Dargan and pro dancer Scott turned blue for their Contemporary Ballroom routine to the Avatar theme, Pandora.

They received 34 points, the second-highest score on the Movie Week leaderboard.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment after Sunday's show, Dubliner Dargan said: "I'm used to sitting at a desk doing 3D animation, and now I'm jumping up pretending I'm an avatar, so it's very, very different, but it's been an experimental, fun experience!

"I love the movie. That's the reason I started my business. I saw the Avatars. I was like, 'How on Earth did they make that?' I started looking into it. I was like, 'Wow, that would be a fun thing to do for work. Let me figure out how to do that'. And somehow that's led to me dancing on national television. It's a full-circle moment.

"We got to go to [the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash]. They had their premiere in Parnell Street in Cineworld, and they were kind enough to let us use all the marketing material. Disney really helped out with all that. So, who knows?

"If that happened (James Cameron seeing their performance), great, but I'm just happy we had fun and got through the dance!"

Dargan and Scott's attention now turns to Country Week this Sunday night.

Although dance novice Dargan has been tipped as one of the celebrities who will make the final of this series of Dancing with the Stars, English pro dancer Scott said they are not looking that far ahead.

"Every week is so different," she said.

"I don't think people realise that, yes, there's some skills you can take through every week, but there's also a lot of skills that with each dance are completely new."

"I think we've got some work to do on your Ballroom frame, but it's getting better!" she said to Dargan. "Your head was in a better position tonight. You've got to get those arms in the right position!"

"The weeks are so full, and there's so much to do that you just get so much into the one dance that you're doing, so it's a week at a time," she continued.

"It's a whole entire thing. It's a long old slog. Every week is its own battle/journey/experience, so let's just see where it takes us."

"I think anyone on the show who says they wouldn't love to go all the way to the final is lying!" said Dargan.

"We all want to go all the way. That's just putting it bluntly!"

"I used to play Gaelic football for years for Castleknock, [I] always wanted to be a Dub, wanted to play for Dublin," he continued.

"And Jim Gavin (former Dublin manager) used to always say, 'You're only as good as your last game'. You can't be thinking about Sam Maguire on the first game of the Leinster Championship!"

Looking at his Avatar make-up, he concluded: "You can call me one of the Boys in Blue now officially!"
