A man who has repeatedly targeted Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy has been recalled to prison after breaching his licence conditions, the UK's HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) has said.

Daniel Bannister, 51, was jailed for 12 months in September 2025 after admitting breaching a restraining order by turning up at Tweedy’s home for a fourth time.

HMPPS confirmed a recall warrant was issued on Tuesday following his release. A spokesperson said: "As this case shows, we do not hesitate to send offenders back to prison where necessary if they break the rules."

Bannister previously received further jail terms for breaching court orders linked to Tweedy, including a 16-week sentence at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court in March 2025. He was also jailed for four months in September 2024 and handed a restraining order, before breaching it again later that year.

In a victim impact statement previously heard in court, Tweedy said she was "stunned" by Bannister’s return and had been forced to hire personal security, adding that his behaviour had frightened her young child.

Bannister was convicted of manslaughter in 2012 after killing Rajendra Patel at a south London YMCA shelter, having pleaded guilty to the offence.
