James Nesbitt has said he tapped into his own experiences as the father of two daughters in his new role in Run Away, the new Netflix thriller about a family who are torn apart after their eldest daughter goes missing.

The Ballymena actor, who had his breakthrough with TV drama Cold Feet and more heavyweight roles such as Bloody Sunday, plays Simon Greene, a seemingly happy family man whose life is thrown into chaos when his daughter Paige disappears.

The eight-part Run Away is the latest Netflix adaptation of a book by prolific author Harlan Coben and it also stars Good Will Hunting star Minnie Driver as Green's wife, Ingrid, Ellie de Lange (Wolf Hall, The Serpent) as Paige, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones as private investigator Elana Ravenscroft, and Alfred Enoch (The Couple Next Door, The Critic) as Isaac Fagbenle, a detective who gets involved after Green becomes a suspect in a murder.

From wildfires in Hollywood to Gaza, Ukraine, and 600 million people at a festival on the River Ganges, the global stories of the year told through satellite images. This show returns for its annual look back on the year that as seen from very high above, along with news footage from down on Earth, witness testimonies, expert analysis and user-generated content.

The Traitors, BBC One, 8.00pm

The franchise hit is back for its fourth season on the Beeb with host Claudia Winkleman promising some "truly extraordinary" happenings up in the Scottish highlands. 22 people from across the UK descend on a Scottish castle to take part in a game of "deceit and betrayal" that could see them win up to £120,000. Series four follows hot on the heels of the hugely popular celebrity version of the game, which was won by comedian Alan Carr. Speaking about the upcoming series, Winkleman said: "There's something new and what happens in this series is truly extraordinary with moments that made me gasp. I can’t wait for people to see it. The producers have the greatest minds on Earth."

Christmas University Challenge, BBC Two, 8.30pm

It's the grand final of the festive celebrity version of University Challenge. It's been a long two weeks of former students of the UK's Oxbridge and redbrick institutions, slogging it out over who is the biggest smarty pants and tonight we find out who gets to feel the smuggest. Also, do they make the questions easier for the "celebs"?

George Michael: Live in London, TG4, 11.45pm

Recorded at London's Earls Court in August 2008, here's gorgeous George in all his considerable glory on his 25 Live tour. This is the first live release of the late singer’s career and it captures him on his first tour in 15 years and also as he wound down his live concert appearances. He draws from his rather brilliant Wham! back catalogue and his work as a solo star, with tracks such as Fastlove, I'm Your Man, Father Figure, Everything She Wants, Faith, and Spinning the Wheel. Remember him this way.
