James's stint as Santa leads to another confrontation with Hayley in the Christmas Day episode of Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
Hayley visits the grotto with baby Anthony, and James - dressed as Santa - offers some advice.
"I wish me and his dad were in a better place," says Hayley.
"Life is short," replies Santa. "Why don't you go after what you want?"
"Do you think I want you, James?" asks Hayley as she pulls down Santa's beard.
