The American actress Helen Siff, who appeared in Cagney & Lacey, Silver Spoons, Will & Grace, and Modern Family, has died at the age of 88.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Siff died in Los Angeles due to complications from surgery for a "long, painful illness".
Her family issued a statement saying: "Those who worked with Helen knew her not just as a talented performer, but as someone who brought professionalism, dedication, and genuine kindness to every set.
"She understood that every role, no matter how large or small, was an opportunity to contribute something meaningful to the story being told."
An appearance in 1981 on the TV series Lou Grant launched Siff's career, and it was followed by roles on Cagney & Lacey, L.A. Law, Highway to Heaven, and My Name Is Earl, among many other series.
New York-born Siff's film credits included The Karate Kid, City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold, and Hail, Caesar!.
