Dublin singer songwriter Gemma Dunleavy and Donegal blues guitarist Muireann Bradley have been announced to headline the Brigit celebrations in Dublin this January.
Now in its fifth year, Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women returns from Friday 30 January to Bank Holiday Monday 2 February 2026, with a city-wide celebration of women's voices, creativity and cultural expression inspired by the ancient Celtic goddess Brigit.
Dunleavy and Bradley will headline Brigit x District, a two-night concert series programmed in partnership with District Magazine, taking place at Abbey Presbyterian Church on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 January.
According to event organisers, "In early Celtic times, this season was not only a time to mark the awakening of nature after the winter months, but a time for bringing new ideas and projects into the burgeoning light, for growing what we have been reflecting on through the previous season.
"Brigit was and still is associated with ideas of inspiration, healing, magic, smithcraft, wisdom, poetry, protection, fire, and the hearth."
Opening the festival weekend, Dunleavy, who had success with her track Up De Flats in 2020, will play a rare headline performance in Dublin.
On Saturday 31 January, Brigit x District continues with Muireann Bradley, the 18-year-old singer and guitarist from Ballybofey, County Donegal who specialises in acoustic fingerpicking styles drawn from early country, Piedmont and ragtime blues.
Brigit 2026 will once again present performances, talks, workshops and "large-scale cultural moments" across the city.
