Wicklow band Florence Road are set to fly the flag for Ireland at the Eurosonic Festival in the Dutch city of Groningen in January.

The four-piece of lead singer and guitarist Lily Aron, guitarist Emma Brandon, bassist Ailbhe Barry, and drummer Hannah Kelly have been nominated for the Music Moves Europe (MME) Awards, the EU prize for emerging European artists, at the music industry showcase. Winners will be revealed at the award ceremony on 15 January.

Irish artists have a strong history at the awards and previous recipients include Kingfishr, Denise Chaila, and Kodaline.

Music fans across Europe have the opportunity to decide the winner of the MME Public Choice Award 2026.

Voting is now open on the official MME Awards website.

Florence Road had a breakthrough year in 2026, touring Europe with Wolf Alice, playing a US tour supporting The Last Dinner Party, opening for Olivia Rodrigo at Marlay Park in Dublin, and releasing a string of acclaimed singles, such as Heavy, Caterpillar, Miss, and Storm Warnings.

2026 will see Florence Road continue to release new music and tour and the band play two of their biggest Irish shows to date at the Limelight, Belfast on 25 May and 3Olympia, Dublin on 26 May.
