A Berklee College of Music graduate in Music Production and Engineering, Yash has spent the last several years shaping a sound that fuses modern pop, alternative R&B, hip-hop, and film-score sensibilities.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I write music from the parts of myself I don't talk about out loud. I’m obsessed with observing and understanding human emotion, the quiet shifts, the contradictions, the things people try to hide. And because I’m naturally indecisive, I often limit my tools when I produce a song so the emotion leads instead of the options.

How would you describe your music?

Hard-hitting hip-hop beats layered with luscious jazz chords and wrapped in pop-driven melodies. It’s rhythm-forward but emotionally rich, a sound that hits first and lingers after.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My inspirations honestly keep changing every week with each new Friday release, but my core influences stay consistent. Artists like The Weeknd, Charlie Puth, Quincy Jones, Sam Gellaitry, and Illangelo have shaped how I think about melody, groove, and production from dark, emotional storytelling to pristine pop songwriting and experimental sound design.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

The first gig I ever went to was FINNEAS at the House of Blues in Boston while I was at Berklee College of Music. I only knew one or two of his songs at the time but seeing him live completely changed how I heard his music. I’ve been a huge admirer of his songwriting ever since.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Definitely Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I had every Michael Jackson DVD back in the day, and those records were honestly playing 24/7 in my house. I’d dance in front of the mirror trying to imitate him and teach myself how to move. That was my first real connection to rhythm, performance, and pop music.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Secrets in Your Eyes by Yash Kapoor. It’s a song I spent an entire semester at Berklee perfecting, and I released it in April 2025. It still feels like a time capsule of that phase of my life, and I hear something new in it every time I listen back.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"We’re in hell, it’s disguised as a paradise with flashing lights" - Too Late by The Weeknd. It perfectly captures that idea of beautiful chaos and emotional denial - something I’m constantly drawn to in my own music too.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Cheating on You by Charlie Puth. This song is truly timeless in my head right from the chords, the groove, the emotional restraint in it all just never gets old for me.
