Newstalk is making a series of changes to its weekday schedule from Tuesday 3 February 2026, with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman moving from the breakfast slot to drivetime to co-present The Hard Shoulder (4pm to 7pm).

The pair, who have co-hosted Newstalk Breakfast for the past five years, will take over the programme from the day after the St Brigid's Day bank holiday (which falls on Monday 2 February in 2026).

In a statement issued by Bauer Media Audio Ireland, Kelly said she was "absolutely thrilled" to be joining the show alongside Coleman, adding: "Let the games begin!" Coleman said he was looking forward to "joining [commuters] for their journey home" after nearly a decade on mornings.

Anton Savage will become the new presenter of Newstalk Breakfast (7am to 9am), which Bauer said will be the first time the programme has had a solo host in more than two decades.

The station’s mid-morning slot (9am to 12pm) will be presented by Claire Byrne, as previously announced, while Andrea Gilligan continues on Lunchtime Live (12pm to 2pm) and Seán Moncrieff remains in the 2pm to 4pm slot.

Pat Kenny, meanwhile, is due to begin a new weekend programme on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 12pm in March 2026, with Bauer noting there will be knock-on changes to the wider weekend schedule.
